Robert (Colton) Johnson, age 33, a longtime Daisy, Oklahoma resident was born on March 5, 1992, to Jerry Johnson, and Sandy Morrison Gates in McAlester, Oklahoma. On September 19, 2025, our Heavenly Father welcomed Colton to his eternal home while surrounded by loving family, and friends in Daisy, Oklahoma after his battle with Cancer.
Colton grew up in Clayton, Oklahoma with his sister Danielle Taylor Shaver, and attended Clayton High School. He then moved to Poteau, Oklahoma to be close to his high school sweetheart; Amelia Garcia, while she attended college there. During that time, he worked at Dolese, Rock Quarry in Hartshorne, Oklahoma. Colton had no problem making the two hour round trip daily, since it meant he could be with the love of his life everyday.
Colton and Amelia moved to Durant, Oklahoma in 2012, while being employed with the Choctaw Nation. They were soon missing the quiet country life, returning them to Amelia's childhood home in Daisy, Oklahoma in 2013.
There, they shared many great years, created memories, and built a family together. They were blessed with two beautiful children. In 2015, they welcomed the birth of their daughter, Ava Marie Johnson (9), followed by their baby boy Asher Creed Johnson (3), in 2021.
Colton was an amazing father to his babies, and worked hard for his family, putting their needs before his own.
He also had a huge heart for others in need.
He was a best friend to many and would be there in a heartbeat if you needed him, no questions asked. He was a man of his word with an optimistic personality, and a great sense of humor.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, racing four-wheelers, noodling fish on the lake, pranking or pestering those close to him, singing, and writing songs.
Most importantly, Colton knew the Lord, and shortly before his calling home, he was blessed in being able to witness his daughter, Ava come to know Christ, and be there for her baptism.
Anyone who knew Colton, will never forget how he made them laugh, his voice when he sang, his crazy wave that he had, and how great a husband, father, son, brother, and friend that he truly was. Colton will be greatly missed, but never forgotten. He is not gone, but just gone ahead.
Colton is survived by his loving spouse; Amelia Garcia, Daughter; Ava Johnson, and Son; Asher Johnson of Daisy, OK, Mother; Sandy Morrison Gates of Clayton, OK, Father; Jerry Johnson of Davis, OK, Sister; Danielle Taylor Shaver, and Brother- in-law Clifford Shaver of Magnum, OK, Brother-in-law; Joaquin Garcia of Daisy, OK, along with many more extended family members, and close friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, October 17, 2025 at McGee Valley Baptist Church. Daisy, Oklahoma. Luncheon will be at noon, prior to the service. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Robert, please visit our floral store.
