Robert "Red" Johnson Sr.

Robert "Red" Johnson, Sr. born and raised in Gates County on December 11, 1953, and peacefully transitioned from this life on November 12, 2025. A true Gates County legend, "Red" was known far and wide because everybody knew him, and nobody ever forgot him.
"Red" was a fun-loving man with a vibrant spirit that could light up any room. He was the life of every party, the one whose laugh you could hear before you even saw him coming. A die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan, he wore his team pride boldly and never missed a chance to cheer them on-win or lose.
He loved to cook, especially pigs, and his meals brought people together just as much as his personality did. Whether he was preparing a feast or sharing a story, "Red" made everyone around him feel at home.
Robert "Red" Johnson, Sr. will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the entire community that loved him dearly.
Public visitation will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025 at the funeral home from 4 pm - 7 pm.
A Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Upper Room Assembly Church, Gatesville, NC.
