Robert Edward "Bob" Jones

Robert Edward Jones ("Bob"), 94, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026, in Ashtabula, Ohio. He was born on March 27, 1931, in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, to Harry and Dorothy Jones. Bob was the middle child of three siblings: Phyllis Benson Johnson of Virginia and Delphia Ann Lowe of Cuyahoga Falls (deceased).

Bob was deeply devoted to his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Barbara Jean (nee Willett). He was a loving father to Lynne Cann Cassell (Joe), Diane Thorpe (Jerry, deceased), Keith Jones, and Phyllis Forrest (Phil), a beloved grandfather to Chris Cann (Erica), Betsy Cann (Mike Coad), Trevor Thorpe (Maria), Janine Jones, and Kelly, Grace, Holly, and Philip Forrest. He is also survived by his precious great-grandchildren, Mykola Ellis; Sophia, and Henry Cann; Sebastian Coad; and Aiden and Audrey Szymanski. Bob was a beloved brother-in-law, uncle, and friend to many.

Raised in the Methodist Church, Bob's faith remained a guiding force throughout his life. As a young man, he proudly earned the rank of Eagle Scout and carried those early lessons of service and leadership into adulthood. He served his country honorably stateside in the U.S. Army during the Korean War before attending Kent State University, where he earned his master's degree and laid the foundation for a distinguished career in education.

His passion for teaching led him to serve as an Industrial Arts and Electronics teacher in the Parma school system. He later became the first Director of the Cuyahoga Valley Joint Vocational School in Brecksville, Ohio. After retiring from teaching, Bob embraced a new chapter, mastering the art of house flipping and building a successful second career through skill, perseverance, and hands-on work.

Bob was known not only for his professional accomplishments but also for his vibrant personal interests. A lifelong enthusiast of classic cars, he found great joy in restoring and admiring vintage automobiles. His green thumb was evident in the gardens and fruit trees he lovingly tended at his Parma home for more than 65 years. Summers were often spent on the open road, driving his family across the country and camping in every state but Hawaii. At age 55, he embraced a new challenge by taking up downhill skiing, a testament to his enduring zest for life. He also loved classic country music and found quiet joy in playing the piano.

May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him, and continue to inspire all whose lives he touched.

Visitation for Bob will be held Friday, February 20, 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Busch Funeral Home, 7501 Ridge Rd., Parma OH 44129.

A service to honor and celebrate Bob's life will be held at the conclusion of the visitation on Friday at 7:00 PM.

A graveside service with military honors will be held Monday, February 23, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Oakwood Cemetery, 2420 Oakwood Dr., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. Those attending should gather at the cemetery, inside the main gates.
