We sadly announce the passing of Robert "Bob" J. Jones Sr., 93, beloved husband of Mary (Synnott) Jones on Monday, January 5, 2026, at his home in Wolcott surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Waterbury on October 15, 1932, Bob was the son of the late Michael and Bernice (Eichman) Jones. He attended St. Peter and Paul grammar school and Sacred Heart high school in Waterbury, CT. Bob went on to attend the University of California, Los Angeles, and later earned a bachelor's degree in English Literature from New York University. Bob was a veteran serving in the Korean war.
Shortly after their marriage, Bob and Mary settled in Wolcott where they raised their three children and have lived ever since. Although he worked primarily in the food industry, his favorite job of all was during his retirement years at the Mayflower Inn in Washington Depot, CT. Bob was an avid reader, often immersed in more than 1 book at a time, and a devoted reader of The New York Times. He also found great joy in tending his gardens and yard; and cherished time spent visiting Provincetown on Cape Cod with Mary. Most of all, Bob loved spending time with and taking care of his family.
In addition to Mary, his wife of 65 years, left to cherish his memory, and carry on his loving legacy, are his three children Martha Jones, Jennifer Druan and Robert (Marybeth) Jones Jr. as well as his two grandchildren Zachary (Christina) Druan and Michael Druan. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his son-in-law Douglas Druan, his brother Michael Jones and his two sisters Carol Ward and Barbara Moran.
Bob's family would like to thank Dr. Jega for his years of care, Smilo Cancer Center and Amanda from Constellation Hospice for her compassionate care.
