Robert L. Keating was born September 8,1946 in Yokosuka, Japan. In 1954, he was adopted by his loving parents, Lindale & Margie (Hawkins) Keating. In December of that year, he stepped foot in America for the first time and became a proud American citizen in September 1956. Robert grew up in Austin, TX with his parents. He enjoyed traveling with his parents to visit family all over Texas. He was dedicated to caring for his mother as her health declined.
He attended Lanier High School and graduated in 1967. After high school, Robert attended Durham Business College and then joined the US Army later in 1967. During his tenure in the military, he spent most of his time in Germany and was an avid bowler on a team with fellow military personnel. After he was Honorably discharged from the Army, he worked various jobs until he started working at HEB in Austin. Robert retired from HEB after working 34 dedicated years. He especially loved holiday meals at Tiffy’s houses. He always looked forward to home cooked food since she made special dishes just for him. He really enjoyed Janis’ homemade pecan pie and lemon bars. Robert attended St. John’s Lutheran Church in Thrall after he met Janis. He loved attending church and church functions.
