Bob graduated from the University of Hawaii and honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After the war, Bob earned his PhD from the University of Illinois in Chicago, where he met and married his wife, Doreen. Bob was a devoted husband to Doreen and loving father to Rachel Davis and David Kodama and grandfather to Hannah Davis and Grace Davis.
Bob shared his passion for learning as a professor of physiology at Drake University for 30 years, where he was known fondly as "Dr. K" by his students and guided many to rewarding careers in medicine. Bob enjoyed spending time with his family, playing the guitar, fly fishing and cheering on the Drake women's basketball team.
Bob is survived by his wife of 59 years, Doreen; two children, Rachel (Tim) Davis and David Kodama; and two grandchildren, Hannah Davis and Grace Davis.
