It is with profound sadness that we bid farewell to a remarkable man, Robert Lee Koenig, known to friends and family as Bob. An electrician by trade, an engineer by profession, and retired by choice, Bob's journey through life was a testament to hard work, determination, and an unwavering commitment to those he loved.
For three decades, Bob dedicated his skills to Chrysler, leaving an indelible mark as an engineer. His path to success was one of resilience, starting from the Ford River Rouge Plant and putting himself through college, embodying the spirit of self-made accomplishment.
Bob's love extended far beyond his professional achievements. Family was the heartbeat of his existence, and he cherished every moment with his children, granddaughter, and great-grandchildren. His passion for travel opened new horizons, and he found solace in the beauty of gardens, especially as a proud member of the Michigan Hosta Society.
A man of diverse interests, Bob found joy in the world of literature, ushering Local Chamber Music Societies, and a member of the Knights of Columbus, at St. Gerald Catholic Church in Farmington. Bob's commitment to his faith and community was unwavering.
Nature held a special place in Bob's heart – from the towering mountains to the soothing waterfalls, each landscape left an imprint on his soul. His devotion to the Catholic faith was a guiding force throughout his life.
Beyond the accomplishments and roles, Bob's legacy is the warmth of his smile, the strength of his character, and the love he generously shared. In celebrating the life of Robert Lee Koenig, we remember a man who not only engineered a career but built a life rich in love, faith, and cherished memories.
In these difficult times, our hearts go out to the Koenig family. May Bob's spirit find eternal peace, and may his memory continue to inspire us all.
Bob is survived by his dear beloved children, Joy (James) Miller, Eric (Jahree) Koenig, and Karl Koenig; adored granddaughter, Hanna Rose (Andrew) Temme; beloved great-grandchildren, Phillip Temme, and Naomi Temme. Sadly, Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife Monica Koenig.
A memorial gathering and rosary will both begin on Monday, November 27, beginning at 9:45 am, at St. Gerald's Catholic Church, 21300 Farmington Rd., Farmington. Bob's funeral Mass will begin at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Gerald's Catholic Church to further honor Bob's life.
