Robert James Koerner

Robert James Koerner, age 85, of Pickerington, Ohio, passed away on October 29th, 2025 at Pickerington Methodist Hospital in Pickerington. Born January 2, 1940, in Columbus, Ohio to the late Robert and Josephine Koerner.

Bob aka Pop was a 1958 graduate of St. Charles Preparatory School in Columbus Ohio and studied at The Ohio State University. He retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation. One of his greatest joys was being outdoors. Whether he was at his favorite fishing spot, walking through the woods during hunting season, tending to his gardens or feeding the birds, he had a deep appreciation for nature and the peace it brought him. He had many dogs over the years and had a special fondness for Brittanys. His down-to-earth spirit, witty humor, and love of the simple things in life will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Patricia "Patty"; children, Robert (Robbin) Koerner, Julie (Gary) Strayer, Richard Durban, Nealy (Mike) Kinnison, and Hayley (Simon) DelGigante; sister, Nancy Rankin; 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Jo Koerner; and brother-in-law, Dan Rankin.

Friends may visit 10-12:00pm on Tuesday, November 4, at the Dwayne R. Spence Funeral Home, 550 Hill Road N. (St. Rt. #256), Pickerington, where prayers will follow at 12:00pm with Fr. Sunder officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Lockbourne, Ohio.
