Williamsport, MD – Robert (Bob) Edward Kuczynski, 94, of Williamsport, MD, passed away on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown, MD. Bob was born on June 24, 1931, in LaSalle, Illinois, to the late Edward L. and Mary (Snyder) Kuczynski. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ann (Bange) Kuczynski on October 3, 2008. They were married for 53 years. Robert was a graduate of LaSalle-Peru High School in LaSalle, Illinois. He attended the University of Illinois where he received his Juris Doctor degree in 1954. Upon graduating from Law School he served in the U.S. Army in the Counterintelligence Corps. After working for several years for USF&G Insurance Company, Robert and Betty moved to Washington County so Bob could take a job as a practicing lawyer with a local law firm where he eventually became a partner. In 1972, he started his own firm which eventually became known as Kuczynski & Kuczynski, P.A. when his son Edward joined him in the law practice. After Betty's death, he chose to become of Counsel to the firm until his death. Bob, a skilled and respected trial lawyer, loved the practice of law and developed a broad-based, multi-faceted practice which allowed him to handle many types of matters for his numerous clients. In addition to practicing law, he served as a Magistrate Judge in Hagerstown in the 1960s. Also, he served as the City of Hagerstown's primary attorney for 30 years and represented other municipalities in Washington County, including Hancock, Clear Spring, Funkstown, Boonsboro, Keedysville, and Williamsport. As Assistant County Attorney, Robert was active in the adoption of the County's first Zoning laws as well as implementation of Planning and Zoning in Washington County. Robert was admitted to practice before Maryland State Courts, Federal Courts, and the Supreme Court of the United States. He was a lifelong member of the Washington County Bar Association serving in various capacities including President. In addition, Bob was a member of the Maryland State Bar Association, the American Trial Lawyers Association and the International Municipal Lawyers Association. Throughout his career he was an active member of the community and was member of Kiwanis, St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, Conococheague Tribe #84 IORM, Potomac Post #202 American Legion, Williamsport Moose Club, and BPOE Elks #378. Robert loved to read and enjoyed traveling to the Caribbean. Bob is survived by his daughter Karen L. Miller and her husband, Kevin, of Naperville, IL; daughter Anne M. Kessler of Winfield, IL; son Edward Kuczynski and his wife, Linda, of Williamsport, MD; grandchildren Andrew Miller (Beth Peterson), Anne Hirstein (Jordan), Eric Kuczynski (Laurel), Cory Kuczynski (Patricia Stottlemyer), Caitlin Trumpower (Codi), Brandon Lohr (Maggie), and Courtney Seth (Bernie); great grandchildren Julianne Hirstein, Mikale Jenkins-Kuczynski, Link Trumpower, Lyons Trumpower, Gabe Seth, and Connor Seth. The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home, P.A., 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, MD on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. The funeral home will be open after 1:00 pm on Tuesday for the convenience of family and friends. Funeral services will be held at the Osborne Funeral Home, P.A., 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, MD, on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at 11:00 am with Reverends Karen and Kevin Miller officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service on Wednesday from 10:00 – 11:00 am. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
