Robert E. Kuperus, 66 of Stewart, formerly of Belgrade died on August 2, 2023 at Hennepin County Medical Center from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Visitation will be from 4-8:00 pm Friday, July 26, 2024 at the Johnson Funeral Home in Belgrade. A private graveside service with military honors will be at Grace East Cemetery in Belgrade.
Robert Eugene Kuperus was born on December 27, 1956 in Belgrade, the son of Paul and Lorraine (Glavitz) Kuperus. He grew up on the family farm near Belgrade and graduated from the Belgrade High School. After school he helped on the family farm until joining the US Army. He was honorably discharged and returned home where he helped on the farm, worked as a welder and other odd jobs in the area. Robert met Lisa Gau in January of 1992 and they were united in marriage on January 16, 1998. They made their home in Willmar and Belgrade where he worked for Willmar Manufacturing and Arends Farms. They later moved to Stewart for Lisa's work.
Robert enjoyed horseback riding with his kids and with the Belgrade Saddle Club. He loved spending time with his family, especially being around his grandchildren.
Robert is survived by wife, Lisa; his children, Tresha Kuperus, Michael Kuperus and Eugena (Corey) Dyal; step-son, Darren (Alecia) Gau; siblings, June (Mark) Templer, Bill (Mary) Kuperus, Dan Kuperus, Dale Kuperus and Jeff (Becky) Kuperus; 14 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by daughter, Melissa; parents, Paul and Lorraine; sister, Marilyn; brothers, Donnie and Russ and 3 infant brothers.
