Hopkins - Leach, Robert Thomas Stuart "Rob" age 39, of Hopkins, Minnesota, passed away on August 5, 2025, after battling a debilitating autoimmune disease diagnosis five years ago. A devoted husband to his beloved wife, Elizabeth, and his two sons, Jacob (13) and Mikey (3), Rob was a much-loved member of his extended family and he was known for his perseverance through difficulty, his love for his boys, and his dedication to Elizabeth whom he adored and drove everywhere. Rob was born in Blue Hill, ME, moved to Minneapolis at age 6. He lived in Richfield, MN with his family, the Shawn Gellert-Magnuson's, through high school. He & Elizabeth lived in Rice Lake, WI for several years to be close to Rob's mother, Marie Klemenz, and brother, John Sweeney, eventually moving back to MN for Jacob's health management. Rob was a machinist in the steel industry for years at Metalmatic in Minneapolis, Olympic Steel in Plymouth, and Spantek in Hopkins. Rob was an avid computer geek who built many computers over the years. He was the go-to family member when tech assistance was needed. He also loved reading, especially Stephen King novels and history books. Rob adored movies and always had his projection screen working indoors and outdoors, even bringing his equipment to Methodist Hospital and The Villas at The Park Hospice. Rob found swimming to help with his physical challenges and loved to take Jacob with him to LA Fitness across the street. He'll be remembered for so many things, particularly his back patio BBQs through the years and his machine tinkering. In addition to being survived by family members listed above, Rob is also survived by his brothers Shawn Sweeney and James Leach (Aisha), and his paternal grandparents Rose and Peter Vogel. Rob's MN family survivors include his Mothers-in-Law Anne-Marie Cookson and Lynn Cookson, and his in-law siblings David P. Cookson, Jocelyn Cookson, Ben Cookson (Emily Ophus), Rebecca Willette (John), John Platt, and Alaina Platt, plus nieces and nephews Mazie, Mack, Teddy, Meghan, Hannah, Ryan, and Amelia. Rob was preceded in death by his Father, Jesse James Leach, and very recently his most devoted and generous Father-in-Law, David L. Cookson, who was a beacon of guidance, love, and support for Rob. A graveside memorial service will be held at Grandview Park Cemetery (6901 Maloney Ave) in Hopkins on Friday, September 5th at 11:30 am. Luncheon Buffet at Tuttle's Bowl (107 Shady Oak Rd, Hopkins, MN 55343) immediately following ceremony. In lieu of flowers, Rob would like donations to go to The Villas at The Park Hospice, 4415 36 1/2 Street, St. Louis Park, MN 55416. www.Washburn-McReavy.com
