Robert passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2026. Born in Wadesboro, NC, he was the son of the late Robert Hudson Lee and Elizabeth Dawkins Lee.
Bob served in the US Navy before beginning his career as a program analyst. He worked for Springs Industries most of his career before taking early retirement in the mid 90s due to his Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis. Before MS, he was an avid runner with the 10k being his specialty. He also ran a marathon just to challenge himself. He was a devoted husband of 57 years to his beloved wife, Carol, who stood with him through all of his trials. He loved her so much. Bob was also a devoted father coaching both of his boys, and hundreds of others, the sport of baseball and soccer. He loved all of his family, including his daughters-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Along with the love for his family, he will also be remembered for his witty sense of humor, steadfast determination, and his “never give up” attitude.
Robert is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carol Marie Sherman Lee; sons, Shane Lee (Bonnie) of Lancaster and Brian Lee (Jill) of Blythewood; grandchildren, Marissa Christian, Savannah Lee, and Abigail Lee; great-grandchildren, Eastyn, Everly, and Greyson; and sister-in-law, Linda Lee of Lilesville, NC.
In addition to his parents, Robert was predeceased by his brother, William “Billy” Lee.
