Robert Alfred Leitz

Robert A. Leitz, 90, of Milford passed away on Monday, October 20, 2025 at Carle Hoopeston Regional Health Center. He was born on August 14, 1935 in Milford, a son of Alfred and Angeline S. (Post) Leitz and they preceded him in death. Robert married Elaine M. Sloan on September 9, 1962 in Footville, Wisconsin and she preceded him in death on July 26, 2001.
Robert married Mary Ann Roney Sloan at St. John Lutheran Church at Schwer on January 29, 2005 and she survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Michael (Deanna) Leitz of Gibson City, Charles (Rhonda) Leitz of Milford, and Richard (Christine) Leitz of Wentzville, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Russel (Ruth) Leitz of Waupaca, Wisconsin.
Robert was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church at Schwer, where he served on the church council and other various roles over his lifetime. He was a former director at the Ford-Iroquois Farm Bureau, a director on the board of Milford Building and Loan Association and served on the Stockland Community School Board. He enjoyed fishing, restoring tractors, and remote-controlled airplanes. Robert loved to travel and especially enjoyed his winters spent in Arizona. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army National Guard.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at St. John Lutheran Church at Schwer with Rev. Joe Frech officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025 also at the church and one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday. Burial will follow in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery at Schwer with graveside military rites by the Watseka American Legion Post 23.
Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church at Schwer or Milford Ambulance.
