Robert "Bob" Linger

BARBERTON - Robert "Bob" Linger, age 88, went home to be with the Lord on May 27, 2022. He was surrounded by family and passed peacefully, and the family sang him to heaven. He was born July 5, 1933.
Bob loved the Lord, serving faithfully for most of his life. He was a member of the Apostolic Church of Barberton for 60 plus years, and he also attended Calvary Apostolic of Akron. Bob loved the Lord with his whole heart. He taught Sunday School for several years. He was a great son, brother, husband, father, Pa-pa, and employee. He worked for the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company for 45 years. He was always smiling or laughing even when he was going through times of sickness. He served in the Navy for four years, 1953-1957. He also graduated from Garfield High School after the Navy. Bob and Pauline always enjoyed the National Quartet Convention for 20 plus years as long as health allowed. We also went to all gospel concerts in the area. He also enjoyed doing word searches and watching westerns.
He is preceded in death by parents, Roy and Ola Linger; brother, Richard Linger; grandson, Zack Linger; and half-sister, Jeanne (Sonny) Sonneberger. He is survived by the love of his life, Pauline Barkley Linger of 59 1/2 years; children, Nelson (Patty) Linger, Shirley (Ron) Hackathorn, and Ray Lin- ger; 9 grandchildren, Ashley (Andrew) Edwards, Amanda, Russell, Dallas, Kimberly, Jessica, Brooklyn Hackathorn, Jacob (Hayley) Linger, and Kaleb Linger; 4 great grandchildren, Eli Linger, Elliana, Easton Edwards, and Ki- erston Linger; family member, Crystal Linger; brother, Jim (Naomi) Linger; Laura (Bill) Hlavin; and several nieces, nephews, and loving friends.
We want to thank son, Ray, and Kindred Hospice for serving Bob and all their kindness. Special thanks to Jen C, Racheal, Shelly, Jen G, and Military Pinning.
Funeral service will be at 7:00 pm on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at Apostolic Church of Barberton, 1717 Turkeyfoot Lake Rd, Barberton with Pastor Paul Pamer, Bishop Rod Pamer, and Pastor Nelson Carter officiating. Visitation will be from 6-7 pm prior to the service at the church. Private burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery.
