Robert “Greg” G. Lockhart, age 86, died on October 11, 2025, with his family at his side. He was born November 16, 1938, in Greenview, IL to Charles and Ina (Callaway) Lockhart, Jr. Upon graduating, he attended the University of Illinois-Urbana, where he earned a BS in Civil Engineering. Following his educational pursuits he and Marcele Kathryn Lockhart began a family. Later in life, he married Kalene (Olson) Oppor on November 6, 1981, in Neenah, WI and they blended their family. Together, they were just short of celebrating 44 years married.
Greg worked as a civil engineer at various municipal consulting firms in and around eastern Wisconsin. He was a member of both the Wisconsin and National Societies of Professional Engineers. He enjoyed collecting carnival glass. In younger years, he enjoyed hunting deer and watching birds. An avid traveler, he and Kalene spent countless hours in the various national parks and other locations around the continental US as well as Hawaii and Canada. Greg used his engineers’ eye to become a skilled photographer and was all about capturing the scenery and wildlife on his adventures.
Greg is survived by his wife Kalene; sons: Scott (Tina) Lockhart, Paul (Jenny) Lockhart, Mike (Jody) Lockhart, Mark (Angie) Oppor, Nick (Colleen) Oppor; grandchildren: Hannah (Ben), Isaac, Kendra (Jon), Nicholas, Emily (Kyle), Aaron, Schanda, Amber, Kyle (Autumn), Kourtney, Jack, Max, Jordan; great grandchildren: Lucy, Lottie, Natalie, and Luka. In addition, he is survived by his sisters-in-law Linda and Carolyn as well as other relatives and friends.
Greg was preceded in death by his daughter Patricia; his parents; brothers Keith and Ken well as his Aunt Edra and other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will take place on Tuesday October 21, 2025, at 11:00am, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 2330 E Calumet Street, Appleton. Friends and family may gather at the church from 9:00am until the service begins. Greg will be placed in a niche at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
Greg's family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Heartwood Homes & Aseracare Hospice for the loving care provided to Greg these last months.
