Robert Long Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 5, 2025.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert David Long, who left this world peacefully on March 2, 2025, after a life well-lived. Born on October 17, 1945, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Bob was a proud resident of Bromley, Kentucky, where he spent his years bringing joy and warmth to everyone around him.
Bob was a true perfectionist in every sense. Whether tackling a home improvement project or helping a friend, he poured his heart into everything he did. He was a jack of all trades, always ready to lend a hand to family and friends. Bob had a special love for adventure. He enjoyed watching Westerns, relishing the tales of rugged characters who mirrored his own spirit of exploration. In his younger days, he cherished time spent hunting and fishing, embracing the great outdoors that he loved so much.
Preceded in death by his first wife Beverly, he is survived by his loving spouse, Karen Long. Survived by children Melissa (Rob) Barber, Robert (Kelly) Long and step children Shelly Fields and Barry Fields. Bob took immense pride in being a grandfather, cherishing his role in the life of his granddaughter, Kaetlin Shreffler. Grandson Robert David Barber II and great grandchildren: Lilly, Addy & Baylor Barber, Greyson, Ryker, Colt and Isabella Kate Schreffler. He had a special relationship with Elly Shay who he called "Little Bit". His love for family extended to his siblings, brothers Richard, Huey "Skeeter", and William Long, and sister Pam Shay, who will always hold fond memories of their time together.
In honor of Bob's remarkable life, the family will hold funeral services to celebrate his passions and the countless memories shared. Details will be shared shortly regarding the time and place as they arrange a gathering fitting of a man who loved adventure, family, and life itself.
As we remember Bob, let's raise a glass to a life filled with joy, stories, and treasured memories. He may have left this earth, but his indomitable spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
Robert was preceded in death by parents Lester & Alice Long, first wife Beverly Long and stepson Joe Fields
