WADESBORO – On Saturday, March 8, 2025, Mr. Robert Douglas “Bob” Lowry, 80, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend passed away peacefully at Hospice Haven in Rockingham.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Wednesday, March 12, 2025, in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Mr. Ken Caulder officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park.
The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home and other times at the home.
Bob was born in the White Store Community of Anson County and was a son of the late George William Lowry and the late Janie Virginia “JV” Tucker Lowry. He was a 1963 graduate of Morven High School where he played basketball and was voted most athletic. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
A man with a strong work ethic, he was retired from Duff Norton in Wadesboro, now Coffing Hoists, with more than 30 years of service.
Words like, loving, kind, generous and honorable are used by his family to describe him. He truly loved his family and shared time with them.
Those who are left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years on March 15, Geneva Dawkins Lowry; his children, Christy Street and husband, Ivan of Raeford and Chris Lowry of Wadesboro; his grandchildren, Blake Lowry of Alaska and Brooke Lowry of Norwood; his sisters, Jane Kimrey of Norwood and Ann Bundy of Bennettsville, SC; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Rita and Edwin Cornwell of Lilesville and his nieces and nephews and their families.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society and FirstHealth Cancer Center for the assistance and care they gave Bob and because of their kindness, the family suggests memorials be made to them.
