Robert Lutz Obituary

Beloved father and husband, Robert Regis "Bob" Lutz, of Butler, passed away peacefully and went to our Lord Sunday, April 20, 2025, at the age of 94, surrounded by his loving family.
Robert was born Jan. 31, 1931, in Crafton, Pa., to Theodore Joseph Lutz and Mary Rogers Lutz.
He attended Butler High School, where he graduated in 1950, and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, rising to the rank of airman first class by 1952.
He attended St. Vincent College, and was self-employed as a dealer for Vita Craft stainless steel cookware until his retirement.
He was married to Charlotte Neely Lutz, the love of his life, for 67 years until her passing on June 20, 2024. They settled in Butler, where they raised their six children. He was a selfless father who worked hard and prayed faithfully for the Lord's continual guidance and support.
Bob and Charlotte provided an idyllic childhood for their children and set an example that will always guide us forward.
Bob loved his family more than anything. He enjoyed traveling with his family, taking summer trips to Myrtle Beach and Cook Forest. In retirement, Bob and Charlotte visited many states and state parks "out west," including California and Alaska, and they traveled abroad to Germany and France.
Bob faithfully attended All Saints Parish, St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church, where he leaves behind dear friends and warm memories of his strong faith, kindness and humor.
Bob volunteered for many years with his wife at the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He was a board member of the Butler County Area Agency on Aging, where he advocated for the needs of senior citizens. He was a generous and selfless person who always helped those in need, whether they were family, friends, neighbors or strangers.
Bob was an immediate friend to all he met and was a faithful, lifelong friend to many. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him, and he will be remembered for his warmth, wit and generosity.
He is survived by his six children and their spouses, Douglas Scott Lutz of Butler, Jacquelyn (Lutz) and husband, Gerald Mineweaser, of McMurray, Pa., Timothy Lutz and wife, Kelly, of Millersville, Md., Daniel Lutz and wife, Paula, of Franklin Park, Pa., Jeffery Lutz and wife, Michelle, of Butler, and Roger Lutz and wife, Amy, of Butler. He is also survived by a brother, Joseph Lutz of Butler.
He was the proud grandfather of 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy and happiness. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins; and his little dog, Oscar, who loved and protected him.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; three brothers, Ted Lutz, Dick Lutz and Roger Lutz; and two sisters, Mary Lutz Stehle and Nancy Lutz Hilliard.
The family thanks the dedicated caregivers at the Sergeant Joseph George Kusick VA Community Living Center and the Good Samaritan Home Hospice team, and especially his niece, Becky Haefner, for the compassion and care provided to our Dad.
LUTZ - There will be no visitation for Robert Regis "Bob" Lutz, who died Sunday, April 20, 2025.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 26, at All Saints Parish, St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church, 1660 N. Main St. Ext., Butler, with the Rev. John J. Baver officiating.
There will be a reception with the family immediately following the funeral Mass.
Burial will take place in St. Peter's Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 778, VFW Post 249 and VFW Post 499.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Robert Lutz to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, 146 N. Monroe St., Butler, PA 16001, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, 429 Center Ave., Butler.
