Obituary of Robert Brian Lynch
Robert (Bob) Brian Lynch of Bedminster passed away peacefully on Friday evening, August 22, 2025 surrounded by family who loved him dearly.
Bob was born in Dearborn, Michigan on October 5, 1944. In his youth, he lived throughout areas of Michigan and Oklahoma before finally settling in Bridgewater, NJ.
Bob initially attended college at Central State University and then graduated from Rutgers University with a BA degree in English.
Bob also served 6 years in the US Army Reserves with the rank of Staff Sergeant E6.
For the majority of Bob's professional career, he worked in sales dealing with air pollution control products, which provided him the opportunity to travel throughout the United States and Europe. Before his retirement in 2015, Bob was employed by the Peapack Gladstone Bank in its Facilities Department.
Bob was intimately involved with his community being a communicant of St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He also served on the Bedminster School Board of Education for many years that included being appointed for a 1-year term as its Vice President.
Bob was a loving and caring husband to his wife Barbara for 53 years. Bob loved visiting one of his favorite places with Barbara, Cape May, NJ. He had fun walking the boardwalk and could always be found enjoying funnel cake.
Everyone also knew Bob's love to play golf. That was his happy time.
Bob cherished his only child, his daughter Meredith, and was so proud of all her accomplishments. He was also very proud of his son-in-law Mike and all his hard work and dedication to become an attorney, a devoted husband and father. He loved Mike like a son.
Most of all, Bob loved his adorable grandchildren Allie and Mikey. Known as Pop-Pop, Bob would get all excited knowing he would be seeing them and would plan summer excursions for when they would come to visit during their summer vacations.
Bob loved going to Allie's dance competitions and recitals and always had a beautiful bouquet of flowers to present to his "Allie Girl" along with an affectionate hug. Bob would beam with pride in all that Allie has accomplished.
Bob also cherished the time he had taking Mikey to wrestling practices and camps when Mikey was younger. He was so proud of Mikey's dedication, love and accomplishments in wrestling. He certainly was Mikey's biggest fan at wrestling matches and when he was no longer able to attend in person, he would watch Mikey's wrestling matches on video. Bob was also always amused with Mikey's comedic personality.
Bob loved animals, especially his grand pups Jingle Bell and Vedder. He was known for his crossword puzzles, answering Jeopardy questions and solving Wheel of Fortune puzzles without blinking an eye. He had a wealth of information and stories to share. It would also not be Christmas without Bob shopping for an ugly Christmas sweater to wear for Allie and Mikey and topping it off with his infamous Santa Clause hat and white beard.
A dedicated loving husband, father and grandfather. Bob was good-natured, calm, always had a smile and would be the first person to help and lend a hand to anyone. A precious soul who will be very much missed and forever in our hearts.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Dante Lynch, cherished daughter Meredith Lynch Rankin, thoughtful and respectful son-in-law Michael Rankin, precious grandchildren Alexandra and Michael, brother Gerald Lynch, sister-in-law, Donna Lynch, niece Jessica, nephew Michael and four great nieces and nephews, Andy, Kaitlyn, Charlie and Grace.
Bob was predeceased by his parents Matthew and Peggy Lynch, his older brother Michael Lynch and his in-laws, Thomas and Mary Dante.
