Robert Andrew Mabry, 66, of Albemarle, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2025.
Robert was born March 1, 1959, in Albemarle to the late Clarence Haywood Mabry and the late Lois Marie Harward Mabry. He was also preceded in death by his oldest brother, Clarence Mabry.
A man of steadfast faith and tireless service, Robert lived his life anchored in his love for Jesus. For decades, he was a dedicated member of the North Carolina Baptist Men—now known as Baptists on Mission—where he served and climbed the leadership ranks on the disaster response feeding team. From New Jersey to Texas, the Florida Keys to the Outer Banks, and multiple trips to Puerto Rico, Robert showed up wherever people needed comfort, a meal, and a reminder that God hadn’t forgotten them.
When he wasn’t serving others, Robert was tinkering on his beloved farm, cheering on the Tar Heels alongside his wife, Terry, or cooking up something delicious to share with family and friends. He never missed a chance to tell a joke, but only if you first promised you wouldn’t laugh first. His sense of humor, generosity, and big-hearted spirit left an impression on everyone lucky enough to know him.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Theresa Lynn “Terry” Mabry of Albemarle; daughter, Megan Hartsell and her husband, Daniel; and grandson, Liam Hartsell, who was the light of his life. He is also survived by his sister, Deborah (Mabry) Monroe, and brothers, Paul Mabry and Thomas Mabry.
A memorial service celebrating Robert’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at West Albemarle Baptist Church, 336 Church St., Albemarle, officiated by Rev. Adam Hatley. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Baptists on Mission (memo line: DR [Disaster Relief] In Memory of Robert Mabry) in honor of Robert’s lifelong commitment to service.
