Robert MacKenzie Sr.
East Millinocket Robert MacKenzie Sr., Beloved husband of Ella, Passed away on Aug. 2nd, 2022 after a long battle with Alzheimer s Disease. Bob was born to Ralph and Charlotte Mackenzie on Aug. 4th, 1929. After Graduating from Schenck High School in East Millinocket, he attended Husson University and Graduated with a Business degree. He later entered the Army during the Korean War. He returned home to work several years for GNP Co. In Plant Engineering and the Store room, until his retirement. Bob was involved in many activities including being a Member of Anah Shriners; Deacon, trustee and Lector of 1st Congregational church for over 60 years; President of the Snowmobile club; School Board Member, Member of the American Legion and also volunteered his time in many activities. Bob and his wife enjoyed many summers at their camp in Lincoln Me., several winters vacationing in Florida and then Arizona, and also took many wonderful trips together. He enjoyed snowmobiling and golfing with his Dear friends. Bob was one of the kindest and most gentle souls who loved his family and friends Dearly. The last of the 5 Golfers hung up his clubs and joined his Buddies: Bud Heal, Don Hendsbee, Don Lynch and Jake Brewer in Heaven what a Team they will have Now!
He leaves behind his Beloved wife Ella of 67yrs; Cherished Son Robert Jr. and wife Sheila of Millinocket; His Adored Grandchildren Kristina and husband Brad Wheaton and their two children Brady and Riley of Plymouth,Me.; Michael and his wife Georgia MacKenzie and baby daughter Anastasia of Scarborough, Me.; and Daniel MacKenzie and his girlfriend Mikaela King of Hampden, Me.
He is also survived by his Dear Aunt Phyllis Banks and Sisters-in-law Clara Camp and Dale Macdonald and several loved nieces and nephews.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, his Brother Ralph Mackenzie and wife Gloria, Sister Elizabeth and her husband Richard Hatfield, Brothers-in- law Gilbert Camp, Ralph Hooke and his wife Janet, and Carl Macdonald.
The family would like to extend a huge thank you to Gardiner Health care for the tender care over the past month, Bruce and Judy Fernald for their Never-ending Love and Attention, Frank and Cindy Clukey for countless meals and love, Friend Betty Heal for her loving care, his care attendants and Church family and friends who have been so supportive during his trying years.
Service will be held on August 10th at 11am with visiting hours starting at 10am at the 1st Congregational Church of East Millinocket, with the Rev. Jane Frost Officiating. A Luncheon will be held after the Service. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the 1st Congregational Church in East Millinocket.
