Robert Mainz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Peterson Chapel – Buffalo on Feb. 14, 2026.
Robert "Bob" Mainz joined his Lord in heaven on February 12, 2026.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and LaVonne Mainz and sister Lois.

He is survived by his beloved wife Dawn, son John, daughter Danielle (Alexander) Zhu, grandsons Ian and Isaac Zhu, and dog Rosie. He is also survived by his sister Karen and brothers Richard and Randy.

Born on August 19, 1962 in Onalaska, Wisconsin, Bob spent much of his youth taking things apart and putting them back together (including his own cars, much to his parents' chagrin). This innate curiosity and drive led him to the Twin Cities to pursue his career. He established himself early on as a dependable colleague and hard worker, which led to a fruitful career that culminated with him humbly serving as President of Zero-Max Inc.

His most important role wasn't one he'd showcase on his resume, though. From grill master to card whiz and doting grandfather, Bob was a family man through and through. He was happiest when his house was full and noisy. On the weekends, you would usually find him tinkering in the garage, hosting dinner for family, or exploring small towns with Dawn and Rosie.

Although he is no longer physically with us, his legacy lives on in every game of euchre, perfectly smoked brisket, and the satisfied "Aha!" when you find just the right tool for the job.

Bob found purpose in his strong Christian faith, and we are comforted knowing he is no longer in pain. As a final act of selflessness, he donated his organs to the organization Life Source, which helped place them with people in need.

If you would like to give a gift to honor Bob's memory, please send monetary donations to Life Source: https://www.life-source.org/giving/make-a-gift/

We love you! Rest easy.
