Robert Bradley Mallam, "Brad," passed away on December 4, 2025, at the age of 51, after a courageous battle with a rare and aggressive cancer, peritoneal mesothelioma. Born on February 16, 1974 in Oklahoma City, Brad lived a life rooted in hard work, faithfulness, and a genuine love for people.
Brad grew up riding horses and developed a lifelong connection to the world of agriculture and rodeo. He attended Yukon Public Schools, graduating in 1992. From 1992 to 1995, he studied Equine Science at Redlands Community College, and later continued his education at Oklahoma State University, earning a degree in Animal Science with a business concentration. During his time at OSU, Brad competed on the university's rodeo team in team roping and steer wrestling, serving as Rodeo Team President for two years. His passion for the sport and the friendships he formed during those years remained meaningful to him throughout his life.
After graduating in 1998, Brad worked in retail sales, traveling throughout Oklahoma and Texas as a representative for Cinch clothing. Though he enjoyed that chapter of his career, he transitioned to teaching and coaching - a path that shaped the next 20 years of his life.
Brad spent many years with El Reno Public Schools as a math teacher and coach. While basketball was his primary focus, he lent his support across multiple sports, including football, softball, and golf. He is remembered with deep affection for his enthusiasm, patience, and steady guidance-qualities that shaped many students and athletes.
For the past seven years, Brad lived in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, where he taught Algebra at Charles Page Freshman Academy and coached basketball. After stepping away from formal coaching in 2023, he continued supporting the athletic department in many roles-announcing games, transporting teams, operating the scoreboard, and serving as a dependable presence for athletes and staff alike. His excellence in the classroom was recognized when he was named the Charles Page Freshman Academy Teacher of the Year for the 2023–2024 school year.
Brad was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching just about any competition. He especially loved cheering for the Oklahoma State Cowboys and the Dallas Cowboys.
Brad was also a man of faith. He was a member of Life Church, where he enjoyed serving on the Host Team and greeting others with kindness.
He is survived by his parents, Bob and Glenda Mallam; his sisters, Stephanie Mallam and Shannon Mallam; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Chuck and Audrey Mallam; his maternal grandparents, Neal and Ruth Ezell; his uncle, Stanley Ezell; and his aunt, Karen Appleby.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation and the Oklahoma State University Rodeo Team, causes that reflect both support for vital research and Brad's enduring love for the OSU rodeo community.
Brad will be remembered for his kindness, his love for teaching and coaching, his faith, and the generous way he invested in others-whether in the classroom, the arena, the church, or the community.
