Bob was born September 12, 1952 in Mobile, Alabama, the son of William Maltman and Mardell (Hastins) Maltman. He married Paula (Anglen) Maltman on March 30, 1985 and she survives him in Centralia.
In addition to his wife Paula Maltman of 38 years, Bob is survived by his children: James Maltman and wife Nikki of Centralia, Sarah Sprehe and husband Chad of Centralia, and Brandi Steele and husband John of Quincy; one brother: Wayne Maltman of Marion; grandchildren: Colton Maltman, Mackenzie Maltman, Sierra Malone, Maile Nagai, Stormie Maltman, Shianne Gambill, Zach Maltman, Ritchey Maltman, Pamela Steele, John Steele, and Hannah Steele; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents: William and Mardell Maltman; his in-laws: Pick and Pauline Anglen; and two sons: Jarrod and Rob Maltman.
Bob had a larger than life personality. He was charismatic in the most entertaining way. He was a gear head in his younger years, and his toolbox was one of his prized possessions. He enjoyed working on anything with an engine. You name it and he probably tinkered with it. He worked on cars, motorcycles, lawn mowers, and even boat motors. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles with his son Jamie. He especially loved spending time with his grandkids and family. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him.
Funeral Services for Robert "Bob" Maltman will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at 7:00pm at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia with Pastor Steve Upchurch officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 from 5:00 pm till 7:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the family and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 North Sycamore Street Centralia, Illinois 62801, (618)532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Maltman Family.
