Robert L. Marrs, 81, of Fairmount, died on Thursday, October 17, 2024.
Robert was born in Muncie, Indiana on October 20, 1942, son of the late Millard Marrs and Martha Jane (Jones) Williams. Robert attended Fairmount High School and graduated from Marion High School. Robert retired from General Motors after 32 years of service starting out in the headrest department and working in custodial department when he retired. A devoted and loving husband, Robert married the love of his life, Gloria Jean Grim on February 25, 1966. Robert and Jean were members of the First Pentecostal Church of Marion were they met, fell in love and were married. Robert was extremely proud of his Marion Cablevison show "Spirited Cooking Show". Robert was also a member of the German Club of Grant County and was founder of Grant County Voltzgängers Walking Club. A significant part of Roberts life included ministering to many young people in their home, through a street ministry called "His House". They would seek him out, looking for a safe place and knowing they could find refuge when they were going through tough times in their life. Robert was a starter of all things. He enjoyed art especially painting and drawing, loved flowers, gardening and yard work.
Along with his wife Jean, Robert is survived by three children, Robert "Chip" Marrs Jr., and Donald "Don" Marrs both of Marion, and Misty Marrs, Muncie; five grandchildren, Jordan, Amanda, Cody, Kyle and Wyatt Marrs; two great grandchildren, Aubree and Addilynn; siblings, Peggy Myers of Gas City, Mark (Fran) Williams of New Haven, Patricia Hastings of Texas, Brian (Sherla) Williams of Texas, Larry (Isaac) Williams of Florida, Lia (Warren) Wallner of Wisconsin.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents Millard and Martha Jane, step-father Carl C. Williams, sister, Judy Kay Dillon, brothers, Harold (Peggy) Williams and Kevin (Kathy) Williams, and brother-in-law Jerry Myers.
Service have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana. Visitation will be Sunday, October 20, 2024 from 2-4 PM. Funeral Service celebrating Roberts life will be on Monday, October 21 at 11 AM with Pastor Bob McFarland officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery.
