Robert Edwin Marsh, passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at Savannah Georgia Hospice.
He was born October 6, 1933, in Pittsburg, N.H., the youngest of ten children of the late Robert John Marsh of
Pittsburg, NH, and the late Mildred Gertrude Davis of
Colebrook, NH. He was predeceased by all his siblings. Robert spent most of his life in his beloved New England where he enjoyed the mountains and the fruits of the land. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints which he loved very much. His hobbies included genealogy, stamp-collecting, movie collecting and music. He studied piano in his later life. His treasures included his hobbies and his beloved cats, Aumbra and Kiki. He lived most of his life in Vermont where he gained many friends and loved ones. Through researching genealogy he was able to become a member of the Mayflower Society, having descended from John Alden and Prisculla Mullins.
Robert graduated in 1953 from Colebrook Academy in
Colebrook, NH, spent several winters in Florida after graduation, spent nine years in the Navy, home-ported in
San Diego, CA and Yokosuka, Japan and travelled all over the Far East and to Australia. His oldest daughter was born in Bandung, Java, Indonesia. His youngest daughter was born in Berlin, Vermont. After is stint in the Navy he held several jobs and finally located in Burlington, Vermont where he was employed at Green Mountain Power as a clerk in the works office and later as an operator in the Transmission and Distribution office. He retired early in 1993 due to ill-health.
After retirement Sandra and he RV'd in Florida and up and down the east coast finally returning to his beloved Vermont to live out the rest of his life.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Sandra A. (Osterman) Marsh; daughters, Dee Anna Russell of Bluffton, SC, and Belinda Jo Marsh of Morrisville, VT; a granddaughter, Rachel Ann Russell of Worcester, MA; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Families First Funeral Care & Cremation and interment will be in the Plainmont Cemetery in
East Montpelier, VT.
