William Mintz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors - Hodgson Chapel on Feb. 4, 2026.
William "Billy" Samuel Mintz passed away peacefully at home on February 2nd, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

A native of Savannah, GA, Billy was born on March 10th, 1928, and was a graduate of Savannah High School. He proudly served his country, first enlisting in the U.S. Army and serving in Occupied Japan, and later reenlisting in the Air National Guard. Billy was a Korean War Veteran and retired as a Master Sergeant.

In 1949, Billy married the love of his life, Anne K. Fretwell. Together they raised four children in their lifelong family home on Isle of Hope. Billy worked as a pipefitter at Union Camp before enjoying three decades of happy retirement, traveling with his wife and spending time with family and close friends. Billy will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather, and for his quick wit and jocular nature.

Billy was preceded in death by his wife, Anne, of 73 years. He is survived by his four children, Daphne Bishop, William "Bill" Mintz (Kheira), Candace "Candy" Green (Maurice), and Alison Gaudry; and eight grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2026 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 7, 2026 in Bonaventure Cemetery.

Remembrances may be made to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Savannah, GA..
