Robert Morales Martinez passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Thursday, August 25, 2022 in Las Cruces, NM. He was 86 years old. Chilo as he was affectionately known, was born on January 29, 1936 in Los Angeles, CA, to the late Marcelo and Susana Martinez.
Robert is preceded in death by three sisters Marilu Martinez, Guadalupe Martinez and Carol Ortega; one brother-in-law, Gilbert Lopez; and his grandson, Michael Martinez. He is survived by his son, Gilbert Martinez and wife Linda; his son, Robert Martinez, Jr; his daughter, Rebecca Ramos and husband Luis Ramos, Sr; his daughter, Marina Torres and companion Corey Stone; and his daughter, Roberta Martinez. He is also survived by his brother, Richard Martinez and wife Patsy; his sister, Magdalena Angel Lopez; his sister, Leticia Cadena and husband Carlos.
Robert loved bragging about his 15 grandchildren; Robert Martinez, Jr. and wife Emily; Sofia Segovia and husband Richard; Iris Aguilar and husband Samuel; Irina Porter and husband Mark; Gilbert Martinez, Jr. and wife Soumi; Joseph Martinez and wife Cindy; Stacie Valdez-Bretado and husband Gabriel; Salena Valdez; Samuel Martinez; Chantel Martinez; Elijah Martinez; Thomas Gutierrez III; Megan Gutierrez and partner Ashton; Isiah Torres; and Zerika Martinez. He also had 18 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews who he loved to make laugh and chase them around for kisses.
Robert worked in construction for most of his life and retired in Las Cruces, NM where he enjoyed dancing, bingo, listening to music, spending time with family, hanging out with his friends at the Moose Lodge and challenging everyone to punch my stomach .
Services for Robert will be held at St. Albert the Great Newman Center at 10:00 am on Monday, September 12, 2022 followed by graveside services at the Masonic Cemetery. A reception in Robert s memory will follow at Celebrate Hall, 522 S. Idaho Ave. Suite B in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
