In the warm embrace of his loving family, Robert peacefully passed on to heaven Monday evening, September 25, 2023.

Memorial services will be conducted Saturday, October 14 at 1:00 p.m. at the Rotan Methodist Church with Jeff Sedberry officiating. Burial will be at Belvieu Cemetery. The family will visit with friends at the Rotan Community Center after the service.

Born May 29, 1945, in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas, to the late Frederico Martinez and Eleanor (Ozuna) Martinez, Robert's life was a testament to unwavering love, dedication, and craftsmanship.

Robert's heart found its match in Susan Anne Weatherman, whom he wed on September 15, 1967, in Arlington, Texas. Susan, who preceded him in passing March 2, 2022, was his lifelong companion, a partner in farming, and the love of his life.

From his earliest days as a young man until his final moments, Robert was a rancher, farmer, and welder. His passion for the land and the life he built upon it was evident to all who knew him. He and Susan ran their farm together, creating cherished memories along the way. Robert's heart was as vast as the land he worked in Fisher County, where he reveled in fishing, hunting, and telling wonderful stories.

Beyond his love for the land, Robert was a master craftsman, channeling his creativity into building remarkable creations. His hands were gifted, and his legacy lives on through the tangible works of art he left behind. Robert was also a faithful member of the Rotan Methodist Church, where his spirit found solace and community.

Robert's memory is lovingly treasured by his surviving family members, including his son, Josh Martinez of Lubbock, and his three daughters: Jackie Martin and her husband Kenny of Snyder, Kristi Immitt and her husband Jeff of Plano, and Lynne Jenkins and her husband Brian of Abilene. He is survived by four brothers: Jimmy Martinez and his wife Karen of Rotan, Ben Martinez of Rotan, Rene Martinez and his wife Edie of Richardson, and Hector Martinez of Odom, along with two sisters: Lupe Middendorf of Anna and Mary Helen Ackerman of Austin. Anna Martinez of Kingwood, Robert's sister-in-law, is also among the cherished survivors, including numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Robert's impact extends to the next generations, as he leaves behind eight grandchildren: Katie Pickrell and her husband Josh, Ryne Bennett, Ella Bennett, Sofia Immitt, Andrew Martinez, Faith Jenkins, Jeral Jenkins, and Jacob Jenkins. He also had the joy of knowing three great-grandchildren: Keraleigh Pickrell, Brynleigh Pickrell, and Raeleigh Pickrell.

In Robert's journey to heaven, he joins those who preceded him, including his parents, his beloved wife Susan, his granddaughter Kera Danielle Martin, his brother Joe Fred Martinez, brother-in -law, Larry Middendorf, and sisters-in-law Beth Martinez and JoAn Martinez.

His memory will forever remain a beacon of love, family, and craftsmanship in the hearts of those blessed to know him.

Memorials are suggested to be sent to organizations Robert greatly respected, Rotan Methodist Church Outreach Ministries, and Lubbock Hospice.
