With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we share that our beloved Dad Bobby Maselli passed away early this morning. For the past several weeks he struggled to recover from bilateral pneumonia but sadly would not recover. He requested to honor his dignity to which we agreed to. He loved and was loved by many of you. Memorial services will be held at a later date and information will be made available then.
Robert A. Maselli, (Bobby) 89, lifelong resident of Athol MA, made his journey to Heaven Tuesday April 1,2025 peacefully with family by his side at Heywood Hospital following a brief illness.
He leaves behind his 3 children Cindy Chicoine, Chris Maselli (Wife Bethany), Colleen Caranfa, a brother Michael Maselli, 6 grandchildren Lauryssa Tino(husband Jamie), Gianna Caranfa (fiancé Jimi), Olivia Paras (husband Dan), Alexa Chicoine, Emily Maselli (fiancé Alec), Adam Maselli, 4 great grandchildren Brady & Bailey Paras, Siena &James Tino, several nieces and nephews, his long time adoring companion Marie Hache and also his son in law Alan Chicoine that has remained a caring and well loved family member.
Bobby was pre-deceased by his childhood sweetheart and loving wife of 41 years Beverly Jane (Pierson) Maselli in 2002, his sister Judy (Maselli) Tenney, his parents Dominick and Sophie Maselli.
He was born October 6,1935 and grew up in Athol. After graduating high school in 1954, he enlisted in the US Army where he proudly served in Germany and France which he consistently shared fond memories of. Upon his return, he married the love of his life Beverly.
He was a machinist for LS Starrett Co until retirement. He worked many side jobs cleaning offices and mostly known for detailing cars. Anyone that knew Bobby would say he always had the cleanest cars in town. He had a passion for his Harley motorcycles and enjoyed riding as often as he could up until 74yrs old. He worked hard to provide for his family and enjoyed summer time vacations spent camping in Wells Maine with a convoy of neighbors and life long friends where he would sit around the campfire telling jokes and captivating his audience with silly stories and theatrical expressions. As years passed, he loved vacations in Maine with his adult children and grandchildren. At family gatherings he continued to comically tell the same stories to his grandchildren.
He was a member of Our Lady Immaculate Church and a member of the Athol-Orange Elks Lodge where he loved a great night out "Disco Bob" dancing the night away with Beverly. He loved every animal he owned and his tough exterior would completely vanish exposing a very sentimental side when they passed. He loved everyone else's animals as well and would ask about them before anything or anyone else.
Growing up with our father, we thought he was always grumpy and stayed in the basement too much tinkering around however as adults it is quite apparent that he was always working to be able to give his family everything we needed and wanted. We are so grateful for him and will miss him dearly.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to Marie Hache who loved him unconditionally for over 20 years after losing our Mom Beverly and doted on him, caring for him all this time, he loved you immensely. Also heartfelt gratitude to Athol Memorial Hospital and Heywood Hospital for their compassionate care throughout his stay providing the dignity he desired.
