Robert ( Bob ) Clay Mattingly, age 80, passed away on January 7, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family. Born July 27, 1942 in Maysville, KY, he was the son of James Edward Mattingly and Francis Louise Miller Gaitskill.
Bob served in the USAF during the Vietnam war, and later retired from National Cash Register. Bob also served as an animal control officer for Bourbon county and school bus driver, known lovingly to the children as " Mr. Bob".
Bob was preceded in death by his mother Francis Louise Miller Gaitskill, father James Edward Mattingly, step-father Robert Carrol Talbot Gaitskill, his brother James Lee Mattingly, his grandson Gregory Lee Sharon, his Aunt, Pauline Crump, and step granddaughter Stephanie Drury.
Bob is survived by his wife, Sue Mattingly, his son Robert Mattingly II ( Heather), his daughter Michelle Mattingly Sharon ( Leslie ), 8 grandchildren, and 4 great -grandchildren, step daughters Phyllis Williams ( Larry ), Hope Deakins ( Billy ), step-son Johnny Drury, 7 step-grandchildren, and 20 step-great grandchildren. Also left to cherish his memory are his sister Jackie Chaykowski ( Bernie ) of Mantua, OH, 2 nephews, his aunt Barbara O'Nan, of Pleasureville, KY, Mother of his two Children Linda Peters Mattingly and his beloved dog, Mattie.
A small memorial service will be held at a later date, TBA by the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the following organizations:
