Robert “Bob” Maxey, 89, of Ferdinand, passed away on Monday, March 30th at Scenic Hills at the Monastery in Ferdinand. Bob was born November 30, 1936 in Huntingburg to Dwight and Louella (Fehrinbach) Maxey. He married Linda Greenwell on August 18, 1960 in St. Ferdinand Church. She preceded him in death on April 17, 2022.
Bob was a former school teacher. He was a member of Christ the King Parish, St. Ferdinand Church. He loved playing golf and watching sports. He would often attend St. Louis Cardinals spring training games. Bob was an umpire and referee for many years. He was an avid reader and enjoyed photography. Bob and Linda traveled all over the world together.
Bob is survived by five children, Laura Bieker of Ferdinand, Maria (Tony) Bieker of St. Anthony, Barb (Andy) Kordes of Ferdinand, Becky Gehlhausen of Evansville and JR (Nicole) Maxey of St. Louis, MO.; a sister, Marilyn (Greg) Harter of Columbus, IN.; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Linda and a brother, Daryl Maxey.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 7th at 11:00 AM in St. Henry Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Ferdinand Church Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday at St. Henry Catholic Church from 9:00 AM until time of services. Online condolences may be shared at www.becherfuneralhome.com
