Robert E. McCarnan, a devoted and hardworking family man, passed away on September 20, 2025, in Blue Ash, Ohio, at the age of 75. He was born on December 20, 1949, in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he spent his formative years nurturing a strong sense of family and community.
Robert proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, exemplifying the courage and dedication that would define his life. Upon returning home, he continued to demonstrate a steadfast commitment to his family, embodying the qualities of a loving and caring father and grandfather. He found immense joy in his role as a patriarch, nurturing relationships with his children and grandchildren, who were consistently the center of his universe.
He is survived by his beloved son, Chad McCarnan; his cherished grandchildren, Katlynn, Brody, Sean, Austin, and Kayleigh; and his son-in-law, Scott Stewart. Robert also leaves behind his brothers, John and Jerry McCarnan, along with many nieces and nephews, all of whom will hold his memory dearly in their hearts.
Robert was predeceased by his devoted wife, Sally McCarnan, his beloved daughter, Summer Stewart, and his parents, John E. McCarnan and Anna Kathryn McCarnan. Each of these losses has left a profound impact on those who survive him, yet it is through the shared memories and love they cultivated together that his spirit will continue to shine.
Robert E. McCarnan will be remembered for his unwavering strength, deep love for family, and the sacrifices he made for his country. His legacy will live on through the generations he inspired and the lives he touched, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Visitation will take place on Friday, October 3, 2025 at Hodapp Funeral Home in West Chester, 8815 Cincinnati Columbus Rd (US 42), West Chester, OH 45069, from 11 am until 12 am. Burial with military honors will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Springdale Ohio.
