I will remember Mr. McCool as an exceptional coach to young kids like myself. He was not only very generous with his time, but he had a relaxed way with young people that made us like him. My condolences to his family, especially Bob.

I was friends with Mr. McCool's son Bob. Mr. McCool was my coach several times in more than one sport. I remember vividly the day he and Bob and I played a pick-up game of basketball at the Zielhler Rec and Mr. McCool taught me how to shoot the ball properly. He was the first person I ever saw make a shot from half-court. He was selfless in his attention to all the kids' development as athletes and good sportsmen. --Mike Finley

I have only known Bob for a couple years but he always made me feel special. He was a good friend. Ewa and I always looked forward to spending time with both Mary Ann and Bob. He always had a joke or two during our times together. He will be sorely missed but we will cherish the memories. Love you Mary Ann.

I'm not sure why this one sticks out of the many great memories, but this was back in the NVIP days. There was a near blizzard and we were one of the few people left. Mr McCool was taking me home (I practically lived on his couch back then). He came and got me and we got into the red Chevy Chevette. I was pretty skeptical of making the trip but he told me something I always kept in mind whenever driving in the snow. He said The secret is - don't stop for anything. I don't think we ever got stuck and his only real concern was if Joseph's was open so we could stop for take out. - Bill P

Uncle Bob was a top notch guy. He was always so kind. He was for the family 100%. He'd always make sure that we in Maryland were abreast of all that was going on in Philly (parties, etc.). I will miss Uncle Bob very much. I already do.

Thank you for posting Uncle Bob's obituary. Uncle Bob was always kind to me. I so enjoyed our family events with all of my cousins. I remember meeting on the Wildwood beach and at Uncle Bob's apartment. I remember small rooms filled with excitement with no place to sit because we were so many. I remember thinking it odd that when I would see Uncle Bob that he would stop and pay attention and stop to be kind to me. I would think with all the people in his life that he would have grown weary of this task by his later years. Though Uncle Bob paid attention with a keen ear and an open heart to family. I was taken back by this. I will always love Uncle Bob very much along with all of his kids. I am happy he went out dancing with those he loved; secretly happy that my Dad now has his cherished brother in his arms. I send my love, prayers, and condolences. And will be with you in spirit on Friday. Lisa McCool
