Robert McDonald Obituary
February 11, 1959 - April 14, 2025
Charlotte, North Carolina - Dr. Robert Louis McDonald, age 66, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on April 14, 2025. He was born on February 11, 1959, in Birmingham, AL, to the late Edward L. McDonald and Peggie H. Hale. A graduate of Banks High School, Dr. McDonald earned his undergraduate and medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He practiced medicine with dedication and compassion until his retirement.
In 1980, he married his high school sweetheart, Tammy Wright. Together, they shared 45 years of marriage and raised four children: Amy McDonald of Nashville, TN; Andrew McDonald (Kelly) of Charlotte, NC; Matthew McDonald (Madison) of Charlotte, NC; and Meredith McDonald of Birmingham, AL. He is also survived by two loving sisters, Karen Posey (Jim) of Concord, NC, and Kathy Lynn McDaniel (Kelly) of Arab, AL; and his two loving stepsisters, Kathy Carol Maddox of Oneonta, AL, and Jan Gilmore (Fred) Las Vegas, NV.
He was eagerly anticipating the birth of his first grandchild in September.
Dr. McDonald's life was marked by a deep love for his family, a commitment to his profession, and a strong faith. He will be remembered for his intelligence, warmth, and unwavering support for those he loved.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at New City Church, 2500 Carmel Road, Charlotte, NC. The service will be officiated by Reverend James T. Posey. In lieu of flowers, we invite you to honor Bobby's passion for helping those who are sick and their families with a contribution to the Ronald McDonald House https://rmhc.org.

Very sad to hear of Bobby´s passing last week. Bobby was a great guy and very hard worker when we played football so long ago. He was witty and funny and always gave his best. My condolences to Tammy and the family on your loss. Such a smart and humble person - he will be missed. Blessings
