Robert McEachern Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Duffy-Poule Funeral & Cremation Services - Attleboro on Jan. 14, 2026.
Robert McEachern, loving father, teacher, veteran and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 9, 2026. He was 74 years old and the beloved husband of the late Sheila (Slauzis) McEachern.

Born in Newton, MA on September 11, 1951, he was the son of the late Robert McEachern, Sr. and Barbara (Burke) McEachern. He grew up in Wellesley Hills and spent his early years exploring the world around him. Robert was no stranger to long-distance adventures. He drove across the U.S. and Germany during his time in the Army, and once even bicycled all the way from Massachusetts to Canada. These travels sparked a deep curiosity that would later shape his passion for learning.

Robert earned a bachelor's degree in education from Northeastern University in 1979 and a master's in education from Cambridge College in 1991. From his studies, Robert became a supportive guide to many. For over three decades, he dedicated his life to the students of the King Phillip School System. He began his tenure as an English teacher in the high school and spent the majority of his career teaching Social Studies and History at the middle school. Robert was a devoted teacher who left a lasting impact on countless students. He inspired his classes with his genuine curiosity and enthusiasm for studying ancient cultures and world traditions.

Robert's wisdom went beyond the classroom. He truly was a jack of all trades. He loved helping his daughters, his friends, and even strangers in need with home and landscaping projects of all kinds. Determined and hardworking, he was always committed to helping and supporting others whenever he could. There was no job he wouldn't take on.

In his retired years, Robert continued to be a student of life. He found time for hobbies he loved. He enjoyed bike riding, hiking, creating stained glass art, drawing, gardening, cooking, and playing pool. He never lost his curiosity for the world. He loved books and was a prolific reader of both fiction and non-fiction. His friends were often lucky enough to receive curated book recommendations and hand-written synopses encouraging them to find their next read. He studied yoga, obtained his Yoga Instructor Certification, and led yoga classes at his local YMCA. He found many ways to remain engaged in his community and connected to his friends and family.

Robert is survived by his three loving daughters, Juliann McEachern and her husband Kody Wescott of Astoria, New York, Katie McEachern of Plymouth, Massachusetts, and Allison Taylor and her husband Sam also of Plymouth, Massachusetts; his five grandchildren, Nicholas (10), Owen (8), Mason (6), Finley (3) Lennon (1 month) and his three sisters, Carol Lopez and her husband Frank of Waipahu, Hawaii, Alice Bradford and her husband William of Louisville, Kentucky, Mary Zakrzewski and her husband Jay of Hampton, New Hampshire, and his brother-in-law Michael Wiener of West Palm Beach, Florida.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Francis McEachern and Susan Wiener.

Private funeral services will be held.

Robert's life was one of service, education, and love for his family and friends. His memory lives on in his daughters, his grandchildren, his students, and all those whose lives he touched.
