Robert E. McElfresh, 68, of Marietta passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with cancer.

He was born on May 15, 1957, in Marietta to Robert and Ruby (Tidd) McElfresh. Bob graduated from Nashville Diesel College in 1977. Shortly after that he went to work for R.O. Wetz Transportation. He was a dedicated employee for 48 years. Bob loved pulling garden tractors and was a long time member of Ohio Valley Garden Tractor Assoc. Bob was a loving husband, father and "Pap." His greatest joy was spending time with his family.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Peggy, sons, Matt and Josh (Kayla) McElfresh; grandchildren: Shelby, Matthew, Maggie and Miles. Also surviving are siblings: Barb (Ronnie) McKnight, Dorothy McElfresh and Mark (Rena) McElfresh; special brother-in-law Bill (Linda) Stevens, Susan (Terry) Dearth, Thelma Conant and Anna Stevens. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Special "Thanks" for Dr. Bhadi for the excellent care and advice he provided. Also wish to thank Dr. Cawley and staff at Strecker Center…they are the best.

Funeral service will be held on Friday (Nov. 7) at 1:00 pm at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with burial following in Gravel Bank Cemetery. Family will greet friends before the service from 10:00 until 1:00. Messages of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.Lankfordfh.com

Bob was always a ray of sunshine when he came in for treatment. I always enjoyed caring for him. He had a great attitude and loved to talk and joke with all the nurses. Thanks for all the donuts Bob! You will be greatly missed. Prayers and condolences to the family.
