Diane Elizabeth McElfresh

Diane Elizabeth McElfresh, 73, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2025. She was born December 7, 1951, in Zanesville, to the late Robert L. and Juanita Matheny Gabriel. She was a 1969 graduate of Maysville High School and was employed through the years at Essex Wire, Touch of Tropics, providing daycare and most important she was a stay-at-home mom. Diane was a member of Fultonham United Methodist Church. She enjoyed shopping, playing cards, vacationing in Panama City, Florida and cheering on her Ohio State Buckeyes. She was proud of her title as "Granny".
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Michael "Mike" McElfresh, who she married July 18, 1970; three daughters: Julie (Tim) Young, Angie McElfresh and Jaden McElfresh; her sister Kimberly Gabriel-DeMent; a special cousin Kathy Ansel Bollinger; grandchildren: Calvin (Hillary) Collins, TJ (Jakala) Young, Darriyan (Kaeli) Collins, Drew Brown, Makyah McElfresh and Gabriel McGee; 13 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and one on the way; nephew Jesse DeMent; a great nephew Jase DeMent; and many cousins and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Nichole Lynn McElfresh, who passed away April 27, 2011; a grandson Cevin Collins; her grandmother Esther Gabriel; and her brother-in-law Mark DeMent.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Muskingum County K-9 Adoption Center, 1854 East Pike, Zanesville, Ohio, 43701.
Visitation will be held from 12 to 2PM, Monday, October 27, 2025, at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD, ZANESVILLE. Funeral services begin at 2PM in the Snouffer Chapel with Pastor Jeff Belt officiating. Burial will follow in Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
