Robert McEttrick Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Blyth Funeral Home & Cremation Services - Greenwood on Jan. 26, 2026.
Robert Paul McEttrick, 68, of McCormick, South Carolina, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026.

He is survived by his partner of nine years, Judith "Judy" Robie; his daughter, Lisa Delevante (Mike) of Hoboken, NJ; his son, Scott McEttrick (Brittany) of Amherst, NH; and his cherished grandchildren, Charlie and Ellora.

Bob was born on September 3, 1957, in Milton, Massachusetts, the son of the late Richard Bernard McEttrick and Margaret M. Cummings McEttrick.

He was a longtime resident of Milford, New Hampshire, where he lived for 32 years and raised his family with his wife of 38 years, Wendy McEttrick. His appreciation for nature extended beyond his own yard; in the early 1990s, he served as chairman of the Conservation Committee.

Bob dedicated 37 years of his professional life to Hewlett-Packard, building a respected career. He began as a Customer Support Engineer in the early 1980s and went on to other roles, and later Project Management. Known for his reliability and strong work ethic, he took pride in his work and the relationships he built along the way. He retired in 2020 and moved to South Carolina to enjoy the next chapter of his life.

In his younger years, Bob was a passionate pilot who loved flying small planes whenever his schedule allowed. He enjoyed taking his boat to lakes across New Hampshire, impressing his family with his slalom skiing skills and always delivering the perfect tube ride. Bob also loved snowmobiling and shared many trips to Pittsburg, New Hampshire with his son, staying at Mountain View Cabins. Summers were spent vacationing with good friends at Lakeshore Village Resort. On warm evenings, he would take his children down to the lake for a moonlight swim to cool off before bed. Bob also kept a Thanksgiving tradition alive by watching Planes, Trains and Automobiles, a movie that became so delightfully predictable that the family could recite it verbatim. These are some of the memories his family will carry with them forever.

In retirement, Bob embraced travel, the warmth of South Carolina, swimming in the warm waters of Lake Thurmond, and the peace he found on the golf course among new friends.

He will be missed and remembered for his consistency and love of life's simple pleasures: a bag of goldfish, a cold Corona, and a freshly mowed lawn. All at once.

These lyrics, by an artist Bob enjoyed, reflect the quiet sadness of a grandson too young to know him:

And I would have liked to have known you,

but I was just a kid.

Your candle burned out long before,

your legend ever did.

-Charlie

A private Celebration of Life with family and close friends will be held later this spring.
