Bob was born on March 8, 1926, in Muncie, IN, the son of Paul and Dot Benbow McFadden. After attending three different grade schools in different towns, the family settled back in Muncie. In 1943, he was set up on a blind date with Marjorie Steed, who would end up being the love of his life. He graduated from Muncie Central in 1944 and left to serve in the Army in Italy during WW II, rising to the rank of sergeant. He returned in 1947, and, on August 22, 1948, wed Marjorie.
Bob graduated from Ball State University in 1952 with a degree in business. He joined Container Corporation of America in Anderson, IN, and built a 31-year career rising from salesman to general manager. He moved the family from Muncie to Anderson in 1967 and balanced his business with community service throughout his career. Bob and Marjorie moved to West Chester, OH in 2011.
Bob served on various boards of directors while in Anderson including Anderson Banking Company, Chamber of Commerce (president 1982), the United Way Campaign (chairman 1980), YMCA, Junior Achievement, Anderson Leadership Academy, Wilson Boys Club, and the Ball State Alumni Council. He was elected to the Ball State Business College Hall of Fame and received a "Benny" Award from there for his dedicated support. Bob was also inducted into the Madison County Business Hall of Fame. He was a trustee and elder of the First Presbyterian Church, belonged to the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Murat Temple, and was a 40-year member of the Rotary Club.
His wife of 65 years, Marjorie, preceded him in death.
Bob is survived by his daughters, Elaine Harvat (Joseph), Maineville, OH, and Janet St. Clair (Timothy), Cincinnati, OH; his granddaughters, Katharine Lovaas (Dan), Loveland, OH, and Julia Blackwell (Eric), Littleton, CO; and a great-granddaughter, Sky Anna Lovaas.
The family would like to thank Barrington's staff, nurses, and aides who made Bob's last years enjoyable. They would also like to thank Visiting Angels and Queen City Hospice for their excellent care.
The Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, December 9, 2022, from 1:30-3:30 P.M. at The Community Room by Loose Funeral Home, 200 W. 53rd Street, Anderson. Private interment will precede the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Anderson, 230 W. 9th Street, Anderson, IN 46016, or the charity of the donor's choice.

Bob and I worked together when he was at Container and I was at Delco Remy. and we also attended First Presbyterian together. In our later years, we ate many breakfasts together at the Waffle House and then at Frischs. I was always impressed with how much of a gentleman Bob was, how courteous he was and how he treated everyone as a good friend. I enjoyed all the times we spent together and he will be missed.
