Robert Lawrence McKinney, Jr.

Robert Lawrence McKinney, Jr., 75, of Marion passed away at UNC Medical Center Chapel Hill on Monday, November 4, 2024. 

Robert was born in McDowell County on February 13, 1949 to Robert Lawrence McKinney, Sr. and Estelle Pyatt Allman who preceded him in death. 

Robert loved his Lord and Savior and was a dedicated member of New Manna Baptist Church. He enjoyed taking his grandchildren to all of the events at the church. He was known as a hardworking man and an avid Tar Heel fan. Robert had many doctors in the Chapel Hill Area. He will be greatly missed. 

Surviving Robert are his three children, Jamie McKinney (Brooke), Brandy Greene (Kenny) and Maria McKinney; two sisters, Becky Lytle and Libby Smith; seven grandchildren, Emily Sanders (Alex), Cassandra Thomason, Aaron Lonon, Aly Hensley (Landon), Troy Hendley, Willow Hendley, and Laurel Hendley; and two great grandchildren, Ryleigh Sanders and Atlas Sanders.

 A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 10, 2024 at 3:00 pm at New Manna Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Shirley and Rev. Bruce Ward officiating. The family will receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
