Patriarch of a well-known Lowell Family
Robert, Dad, Gramps, Mr. Mac, Bob, Uncle Bob – Robert J. McMahon, answered to all of these names to all who knew and loved him. He will be truly missed by his loving family, his many, many friends and associates, and all those he met along the way. He was the best friend and beloved husband of Audrey A. (Lavoie) McMahon, with whom he had celebrated 59 years of marriage before her passing in 2015. Robert J. McMahon was born in Lowell on November 6, 1937 son of the late Lowell City Councilor Francis P. McMahon & Irene J. (Johnson) McMahon. He attended Lowell Public Schools and joined the United State's Army on February 17, 1955 at age 17. Robert was appointed to a five-year term to the Lowell Housing Authority in 2001 where he served as Commissioner, Vice Chairman and Chairman. In 2015 Robert was appointed by Governor Baker & Lt. Governor Polito and served as Vice Chairman until 2022. He also served as a Rogers Hall Board Member. Other Memberships included; Lowell Lodge of Elks, East End Social Club, Lowell and Chelmsford Cribbage Leagues and Long Meadow Golf Club. He supported Friends of Lowell High School Wrestling Program and the Salvation Army. Bob and Audrey were married on July 1, 1956 at Sacred Heart Church in a double wedding ceremony shared with Bob's brother Gerald and Audrey's sister Frances. Audrey and Bob were blessed with a large loving family of one daughter and four sons. Their family grew in number to nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Family meant everything to Bob. His greatest joy in life was his family. He was a dedicated father and husband. Bob is survived by; his daughter Doreen (McMahon) Burgess and her husband Lance of Lowell; his sons Robert McMahon and his wife Sheila (Tully) of Lowell, Brian McMahon and his wife Erin (Daly) of Lowell, Daniel McMahon and his husband Bill (Robbins) of Manchester, NH, and Edward McMahon and his wife Victoria (Sweeney) of Lowell; his nine grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Burgess) Shanley and her husband Bryan, Courtney Burgess/Cappucci, Esq. and her husband Michael Cappucci, Esq., Robert J. McMahon, and fiancé Lyn Furey, Kristin (McMahon) Pultar and her husband Brian, Alysia McMahon and her love Steve Sevigny, Kaleigh Jumpp and her husband Greg, Lyndsey McMahon and boyfriend Matt Krug, Edward P. McMahon, Jr., and Colby McMahon; three great granddaughters, Riley McMahon, Vivian Shanley, and Camille Cappucci; four great grandsons, Keegan Shanley, Maxwell Cappucci, Callan Cappucci and Rory Jumpp. Bob also leaves his best and dear friends since the 3rd grade, Brendan Sousa and Bill Martin. Robert is survived by sister Ester (McMahon) Peavey and sister-in-law Cindy McMahon, and was the brother of the late Beverly Flood, Rita Burk, Shirley Mello, Irene Shaughnessy, along with his late brothers, Francis J. "Mac" McMahon, George McMahon, Gerald McMahon. Bob left many dear nieces and nephews. The McMahon Family would like to gratefully acknowledge the staff at D'Youville Rehabilitation Center for the exceptional care given to Bob.

McMAHON-Passed away peacefully in Lowell, June 13, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Roberts's MEMORIAL FUNERAL MASS will take place on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at 11 AM at HOLY FAMILY PARISH – ST. MARIE'S CHURCH, corner of Chamberlain and Grafton Streets. Lowell.
Family and friends are invited to attend A CELEBRATION OF ROBERT'S LIFE on THURSDAY, June 27, 2024 from 3 PM until 7 PM at LONG MEADOW GOLF CLUB, 165 Havilah Street, Lowell.
