Robert S. McRae, age 75, passed away unexpectedly on December 17, 2021 in Gilbert, AZ.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Bonnie McRae, their daughter Heather McRae and daughter-in-law, Tonya Brock, his siblings Dianna V. Struck, Donald W. McRae, Jon R. McRae, and Phyllis J. McRae and nine nephews and two nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ava A. McRae and Robert H. McRae.

His interests included family, traveling, especially cruising, playing Chess and Texas hold'em and playing board games with friends and family.

He was honored to serve in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam era as an Air Traffic Controller. He spent 13 months in Vietnam. In 1970, Robert was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps and married his wife, Bonnie in Rochester, NY. In 1998, they moved to the Phoenix, AZ area. He continued his government employment for the VA where he worked with disabled veterans. In 2013, he retired with 25 years of government service.

After retirement, he enjoyed RV traveling to numerous destinations across the US. For the last 6 years he spent time with his friends at Juniper Ridge Resort in Show Low, AZ to escape the summer heat of the Valley.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Legacy Funeral Home at 1374 N. Arizona Ave., Chandler, AZ 85225 on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at 1pm. Visitation with the family to follow the service.

Internment will be at the National Memorial Cemetery.
