Robert Eugene McWhorter was born on August 19, 1942. He passed away peacefully on August 25, 2024, near Hawkins, Texas.
Robert was the youngest of 5 children. He was born in Dallas, Texas to Henry and Mary McWhorter. Robert worked at Deerborn for many years as an Inspector and met the love of his life during his employment there. He then went on to become an Independent Paint Contractor in the greater Dallas area. Then he and his wife, Linda, moved to Lake Hawkins in 1996 and opened an Antique Store. Robert was always interested in collecting and repairing unique items.
Robert married Linda in 1974 and had a daughter, Melody. Robert is survived by his loving wife, Linda of 49 beautiful years, as well as his daughter, Melody and husband Brad Highlander, and their two children. Robert has numerous nieces and nephews that already miss him dearly.
Robert had many talents. His hands were used by God, be it at work or in the church. He was kind, generous, and had the best sense of humor. His family and friends will remember him fondly as a man of great integrity. Robert had a passion for Jesus and music. He would spread God’s word through scripture and song. He loved everyone, he was bold, he never met a stranger. Robert will be truly missed by all that knew him.
Let us rejoice and be glad in it. Robert’s Celebration of Life will be held Friday, August 30, 2024 with visitation at 1:00 PM and service to follow at 2:00 PM at Croley Funeral Home in Hawkins. Robert will be laid to rest at Hawkins City Cemetery.
