West Brookfield – Robert A. “Bob” Mele, 71, died on Monday, November 17, 2025, in his home with his wife by him.
He leaves his wife of 50 years, Katherine (Chobot) Mele; his daughter, Christina Mele of Spencer, and his son, Christopher Mele and his wife Jade of Ware, along with 11 grandchildren, Robert A. Mele, III, Adrianna, Ella, Savannanna, Oliver, Paige-Marie, Isiah, Isaac, Sierra, Emma, and Tatum Mele. He also leaves his brother, Thomas Mele and his wife Victoria of South Carolina, and Stephanie Mele of New York as well as his long-time, close friend, Roger Gingras. He was predeceased by his son, Robert A. Mele, Jr., and his brother, James Mele. He was born in and grew up on Long Island, New York, son of the late George E. and Jean (Taylor) Mele.
Both Robert and his brother Thomas served side-by-side in the United States Navy prior to the end of the Vietnam conflict. He was a member of the former VFW Post in West Warren and was also a member of the VFW Post 3439 in North Brookfield.
He worked as a shipping and receiving clerk at Pobco Manufacturing in Worcester for 30 years prior to retirement. He enjoyed wood working in his shop at home and fishing in the local waters in the area.
A Funeral Service for Bob will be held at 11am on Saturday, November 29, 2025in the Varnum Funeral Home, 43 East Main St., in West Brookfield. A calling hour will be held from 10 to 11am prior to the service.
