West Brookfield – Richard R. Taft, 60, of West Brookfield, passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.
He leaves behind his loving daughter, Kayla D. Valentin, and her spouse Charles L. Watson III of Belchertown; his grandchildren, Julien, Amaya, and Mila Valentin, Charles Watson IIII, and Brayden Watson; his sister, Kelley O’Brien Lewis of Lafayette, IN; as well as a niece, a nephew, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his twin brother, Raymond R. Taft in 2021. He was born in Ware, son of the late Raymond L. and Louise P. (Desjardins) Taft.
Richard graduated from Quaboag Regional High School in 1983 and went on to work in construction for most of his work life. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and playing darts. He was a big fan of motorcycles, especially Harley Davidsons. He loved visiting with his daughter and grandchildren whenever he could. Rich was a kind soul who carried love in everything he did, especially for his daughter, whom he loved more than anything in this world. His presence, his heart, and his love will be deeply missed.
Calling hours for Richard will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026, from 4:00PM to 6:00PM in Varnum Funeral Home, 43 E Main Street, West Brookfield, MA 01585. A Celebration of Life will be held immediately following calling hours, in Saint Stanislaus Society, 144 South Street, West Warren, MA 01092.
