Robert Ralph Melsheimer, 70, of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina and Zanesville; passed away on Friday on August 29, 2025. He was born in Chicago, Il on December 10, 1954 to Ralph and Elaine (Wiedenhoft) Melsheimer. Bob was on the Genesis Healthcare Foundation Pro-am Committee as well as the Genesis Foundation Board. He and his wife, Susan, dedicated many years to the West Muskingum Athletic Boosters. He enjoyed spending his time golfing, grilling, and taking his boat out for a cruise. He treasured the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also cherished spending time at Hilton Head Island. Bob was a wonderful man who had a heart of gold. He was a great listener and an amazing storyteller; he was the kind of man who always put others before himself…a true giver.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Susan (Tharpe) Melsheimer, and their children, Brad (Lisa) Melsheimer, Abbey (Gustavo Tonelli) Melsheimer, and Bryan (Abby) Melsheimer. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Madelyn, Camryn, Calyn, William, Cydney, and Cade, his siblings, Jane (Tom) Durant, and John Melsheimer, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents, his father and mother-in-law, William and Clara Tharpe, and his sisters-in-law Debbie Melsheimer and Randy Tharpe.
Friends and family may call from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at North Terrace Church of Christ, 1420 Brandywine Blvd, Zanesville, Ohio 43701. Services will begin at 7:00 P.M. with Pastor Dean Cole officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the West Muskingum Athletic Boosters, Licking View, 2170 Highland Rd, Zanesville, OH 43701 or the Genesis Healthcare Foundation, 1135 Maple Ave, Zanesville, OH 43701.
