Robert Mendik

FOWLER - Mr. Robert 'Bob' Mendik passed away in the late evening hours of Sunday March 3, 2024, at The Forum at Knightsbridge Community in Columbus, Ohio surrounded by his family following a period of declining health. He was 81 years old.
Bob was born in Cleveland, Ohio on August 18, 1942, the son of Paul Mendik Sr. and Mildred (Kukal) Mendik. He was a graduate of Maplewood High School, and following graduation proudly served in the United Stated Navy aboard the USS Valcour attaining the rank of Engineman 3rd Class. Following his honorable discharge, he married his sweetheart, the former Joan M. Saska on October 21, 1967. He was the owner and operator of Precision Diesel Service for more than 30 years.
He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, boating, and hunting. He loved travelling to Florida with his wife and spending time with his grandchildren. He will be remembered as a fun and enthusiastic storyteller.
His memory will always be carried on by his beloved children Danielle Heer and her husband Andre of Basel, Switzerland, Deena Robinson and her husband Michael, Rob Mendik, and Jessica Miller and her husband Kevin all of Columbus, Ohio as well as his beloved grandchildren Marilu Heer, Olivia Heer, Grant Miller, and Owen Miller.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Paul Mendik Jr., and his wife of more than 55 years, Joan on January 6, 2023.
Family and friends may visit and pay tribute to Bob on Thursday, March 7, 2024, from 5-7:00PM at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel 1884 North Road NE in Warren, Ohio 44483.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday morning, at 11:00AM at St. Robert's Catholic Church in Cortland, OH. Friends may call at the church beginning at 10:00AM prior to the start of the Mass.
Burial will follow at All Souls Cemetery.
