Robert J. Meyer

Robert (Bob) J. Meyer, 81, of Woodbridge passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024 at Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center in Rahway.
Born in Bayonne, Bob resided in Carteret for over 40 years before retiring to Tom's River for 10 years, and settling in Woodbridge a couple of years ago. He was employed with Western Union, retiring after 47 years, and honorably served in Vietnam in the United States Army as a combat engineer. In his free time, Bob loved dancing, telling one of his many stories, making people laugh, and spending time with family and friends. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and brother, a friend to all, and a favorite to many. He will be greatly missed. Heaven got a good one and we hope he is at peace and having a blast with friends and loved ones we know he is with now.
Robert was predeceased by his brother, James Meyers and nephew James (Jimmy) Meyers. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Lena Meyer; children, Michele Meyer and Heather Meyer with her wife Meghan Wyrick; granddaughter, Vivianne Wyrick Meyer and his niece, Joanne Abrams.
Funeral services will begin at 9:30am on Thursday, January 18, 2024 from CHUBENKO FUNERAL HOME, 625 Port Reading Avenue, Port Reading followed by a 10am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph R.C. Church in Carteret. Cremation will be private following mass.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 from 3pm to 7pm at the funeral home.
