Obituary of Robert Loren Midgett Jr.
Robert Loren Midgett Jr., 76, of Florence, KY, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, July 20, 2024. The son of the late Robert and Geneva {Gulley} Midgett, Bob was born on May 3, 1948, in Flemingsburg, KY. Bob graduated from Dixie Heights High School and went on to spend many years truck driving, traveling through 48 states and Canada, ultimately retiring with Quality Carriers after 20 years of service.
One of Bob's greatest accomplishments was becoming a born-again Christian and receiving Christ in his heart at 7 Hills Church in Florence. In his spare time, Bob enjoyed golfing, fishing in the Ohio River, collecting old records, and going on camping trips to Gatlinburg with his family. He also loved playing card games and was known for his challenging card tricks.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 48 years, Sandra Midgett; daughters Rebecca Midgett and Haley (Samuel) Loehrke; and sister Sharon (Doug) Horton.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his daughter Karah Midgett, brothers David and Tom Midgett, and sister Janice Lefler.
A visitation will be held between 11 AM and 1 PM with Bob's funeral service beginning at 1 PM on Thursday, July 25 at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, 8461 Dixie Hwy Florence, KY 41042. He will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell following his services. Memorial donations may be dedicated in Bob's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital by clicking here. Bob was a special person.

He had a deep love for his family, was extremely knowledgeable on most any topic and had more resolve than any person I have ever met.

Bob faced every obstacle by calmly finding the best solution no matter what the personal cost. He was tough, serious , and able to absorb pain to accomplish whatever he needed to do.

He had strong character and was loyal and extremely dedicated to doing the right thing, particularly to those he cared about.

Bob had a love for magic and was the best card player I ever met.

He told me his greatest joy and the thing he most wanted to be remembered for was being a loving father.

Bob told me that Sandy was the best thing that ever happened to him and that she changed his life completely.

His last words to me were that he not only loved her but that he was still "In Love " with her and that there was a difference.

Miss you buddy.

Jim
